It’s changed how I take photos, and I’ve done a photography course before!!!
The way you bring it together and explain all the contents with examples are spot on.

ANEKA, GERMANY

I’ve had so much fun doing the course and it was also amazing to do something different from my day-to-day routine. I feel so much more confident about making better images - and they are already so much better.

SONIA, GERMANY

The strategies made so much sense (but only once I’d learned them!!) & made a huge difference!! I just wish I’d known them years earlier…

BEN, NEW ZEALAND

I love how you organise and structure the chapters - it’s easy to follow and your examples are so clear to understand that everything feels interesting and also achievable!

STEFFI, GERMANY

This photography course is awesome! It’s developed especially for parents who want to take great photos of their children with a mobile camera. The best things about it is that Jess provides 3 individualised feedback videos, one for each assignment completed. So you get to practice and you get feedback on the photos you took in practice, which was the key in making my photography skills better

Alžbeta, Mum of 2, Germany

The course is well paced, gives you lots of interesting information but it does not feel overwhelming. I especially loved to look at all the examples and admire that Jess is not afraid to show her mistakes and also series of shots leading to that final picture, those are very inspiring and encouraging to not get scared when something does not work out right away. Excercises were fun to do, great booster for the creativity.

I feel like my pictures got better already after finishing the first section. By following simple rules photographs look already much cleaner and when I have more time I try to get more creative using different techniques from the extention part of the course.

I think differently now when taking the picture and its double joy when shot works out as intended - not only having the nice memory of the moment but also being happy that I was able to create such memory myself.

Also thanks to the course I look at other's photographs differently and can appreciate the art, craft and all the work behind them much more.

This course went beyond my expectations! Jess helped me capture the moments that my eyes saw but that I could never properly frame as lovely memories.

Excellent and engaging course structure that takes you step by step through each concept. Midway through the course, I had the Aha moment, where it all clicks in your mind, and you know that you can squeeze a lovely photo from almost every occasion.

This course would make a precious gift for parents and expecting parents - to be honest for anyone interested in photography in general. It has been a life changer to our family photo collection.

Can you explain more about the two options?

Self-guided

  • Means working through the course at your own pace without feedback.

With feedback

  • It’s the same course content and in addition you receive feedback on the photos you make and a personal course page that includes:

    • Links to submit images

    • Your feedback videos

    • Assignment summaries and due dates.

The Course is structured into Foundation, Essential and Extension Lessons and the content is the same for both options.

You’ll learn the most common mistake photographers make, instant ways to improve images, essential compositional strategies & extensions - and also see some mistakes I’ve made - to emphasise ways to improve. It’s all very practical with tons of examples. Plus there are 3 lessons dedicated solely to a specific practice activity.

Here’s a student comment about feedback.

It felt scary to get feedback - but I can’t express how brilliant it was. Where else can you find someone who so genuinely cares about your progress and journey.
LUCY, LONDON

Why is there limited access?

There are two reasons:

  1. I want to ensure every participant gets timely feedback so I restrict the numbers in the course each month to allow for this. And most parents finish well before the time limit! If you have an emergency or something comes up and need extra time - just let me know and we can work something out.

  2. I want this course to have impact - and, appreciating how busy life is, want to help create some motivation and urgency to start it. All previous students have mentioned how engaging and interesting the course is - but sometimes we all need a little nudge to start.

You’ll all receive a downloadable course book at the conclusion - to help keep the new strategies in mind.

Why do I need a laptop or computer?

The course is designed to be interactive and engaging.
It is formatted in a way that best fits a computer screen and this doesn’t always translate effectively to a phone.

For example,

Here is an example using a slider from an Essential Lesson. Sometimes this functionality works with a mobile phone - but not always.

Can I upgrade to the Interactive option with feedback later?

Yes, just depending on spaces available. Just send me an email and I’ll let you know straight away.

Does it include strategies for photographing Newborns?

Yes! Firstly - every compositional strategy is applicable regardless of the child’s age. However, there are examples throughout the course that pertain specifically to taking photos of newborns, to help you capture this special and fleeting moment. You’l be able to improve your images while your baby is only a few months old, and be prepared for when they grow older.

What skill level is it for? Beginners or Advanced?

I feel quite safe to say it has value for everyone. If you’ve never taken a course before, or thought about how to better your photos - you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can improve your images with small and easy to apply changes.  I have some experience taking photos and I also benefited from thinking about the fundamentals!! So even if you have experience - it really helps consolidate what’s important.
